New NIBS Journal Seeks BIM Articles
Posted by Tasha Weiss on March 12, 2013 at 12:02 PM.

The buildingSMART alliance, a council of the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS), is seeking BIM articles for the first issue of its new publication, the Journal of the National Institute of Building Sciences. Articles are due by April 1, 2013.

Beginning with the June 2013 issue, the new publication will be published six times a year with two of those issues focusing on BIM (June and December), which replaces the institute’s National BIM Standard publication, the Journal of Building Information Modeling (JBIM). The remaining issues will focus on other segments of building sciences including building enclosure design, hazard mitigation and risk assessment and advanced and high-performance materials.

At this time, articles are being sought for the June “JBIM Edition” and should focus on one of the following areas:

  • Expanding thought, critical need or new capability
  • BIM case studies/best business practices
  • Economics/ROI
  • Lifecycle/Technology Spotlight
  • Training and education

If you’re interesting in contributing to the June issue, please click here for submission information.

All article submissions and inquiries related to content should be sent to Dana K. “Deke” Smith, FAIA, at the National Institute of Building Sciences (email:
