Sustainability Conference Offers High-powered Ideas
Posted by Tom Klemens on February 2, 2011 at 10:57 PM.

Jonathan Trent, senior scientist at NASA’s Ames Research Center, will be the opening keynote speaker, on March 24, 2011, for the International Conference on Sustainability Design & Construction. Building on an impressive list of accomplishments in biochemistry and nanotechnology, Trent in 2007 assembled a team of scientists and engineers to attack the challenge of alternative energy. With the support of Google, they are developing a system for producing an inexhaustible, sustainable, carbon-neutral, solar-powered, economically viable feedstock for the oil refineries of the future.

William D. Chilton, founder and principal of Pickard Chilton and formerly president of architecture for Ellerbe Becket, will speak at the midday keynote session.

The International Conference on Sustainability Design & Construction provides a forum for professionals involved in all aspects of sustainable design and construction of buildings and infrastructure. It is scheduled for March 23-25 in Kansas City, Mo., and is being presented by the University of Kansas Continuing Education division.
